Coming performance

Personal note: I have been invited to the USA for a wedding, but the date depends on a visa for the (British) bride; so at present (April 2011) there is still is an extra doubt over all dates. I'll clarify this as soon as I can – Jonathan.

Brinkburn Priory on 25 June

Rehearsal with Morpeth Waites at 1pm and performance at 2.30pm.

There is more about Morpeth Waites on the Performances page.

Watch this space for details of the programme.

STUDY CD available – if you have not got the up-to-date version and would like it, please contact Jonathan.

Developing plans

Postponed Easter Monday performance in Newcastle

We had been asked to join in an event being planned by Intercultural Arts for Easter Monday (25 April) – an evening performance in St Thomas' Church, Haymarket, Newcastle upon Tyne  with possibly a community choir, African drumming, Indian singing …

Sadly this was postponed, but is still an aspiration – more details when they are available.

Illustrated lecture at the 'Lit & Phil'

There are strong plans for an illustrated lecture on the variety of medieval chant at Newcastle's Literary and Philosophical Society – probably in autumn 2011. More details as soon as they are available.

Future programme

Several of us much enjoyed the chant day with John Rowlands Pritchard of Opus Anglicanum (Bede's World in March). The day gradually built a programme of readings from Bede's writings and associated chant and, at the end of the day, we sang and listened to the completed piece in St Paul's Church. It has been suggested that we might develop a similar programme of readings and chant on St Oswald and perhaps perform it at points along St Oswald's Way. If you would like to help develop this idea, contact Jonathan.
